Does DevMentorAI send my code to DevMentorAI servers?
No. DevMentorAI works locally with your browser extension and local backend. Your code and context are processed through your authenticated GitHub Copilot flow.
How long does installation take?
Most users complete setup in around 2 minutes: run the backend, load the extension, and open the side panel.
Does it work on Windows without WSL?
Yes. The backend runs natively in PowerShell or CMD, including user folders with spaces. Install it with npm install -g devmentorai-server@latest. The npm "EPERM" cleanup warnings that npx can print are harmless.
What if the npm install does not work on my machine?
Run the backend in Docker instead. It works on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and you can sign in with a fine-grained GitHub token or with copilot login inside the container. See the Docker section on the installation page.
Which browsers are supported?
DevMentorAI supports Chromium-based browsers and Firefox builds provided in the release artifacts.
Can I use DevMentorAI on private dashboards?
Yes. Context extraction is designed for real authenticated pages while keeping data local and user-controlled.
